Why has the Q Ball, the annual gala benefiting Quantum Theatre, risen above the fray of nonprofit fundraisers to gain a reputation as one of the best parties in town?
Consider, perhaps, the description of the event on the company’s website: “Quantum Theatre invites you to escape through time and space into worlds of endless possibility — a fantastical future where you can become anyone you want.” Nothing about elegant attire, passed hors d’oeuvres or festive auction items.
While there will be plenty of style (and, yes, some great auction prizes), focusing on those elements of the party is only appropriate for run-of-the-mill soirees. This is the Q Ball; you’re going to slip into the multiverse in stylish fashion.
The party will feature a series of themed realms — including the World of the Mystic, the World of Magic, and the delicious-sounding World of Sweet Indulgence — as well as a live performance by Treasure Treasure, the dynamic performer who drew raves in the title role of last fall’s production of “Hamlet.” Treasure and The Quintessance will take the stage at 7 p.m., with DJ Selecta to follow.
Whether or not you take a journey through time and space, it’s one of the city’s most storied parties for a reason; you’ll get a little bit cooler just by being there. The socially elevating festivities kick off at 7 Saturday night at Downtown’s Union Trust Building.
