Pittsburgh Business Times – Karla Boos founded Quantum Theatre three decades ago in Pittsburgh with a unique approach, experimenting with different formats that include everything from plays to operas. Instead of working from a fixed location, productions are staged around the region in parks, churches and other venues. Quantum is currently kicking off its 30th anniversary season with an adaptation of Homer’s “The Odyssey,” which runs through Sept. 5 in the Schenley Park Ice Skating Rink. After graduating from college, Boos chose Pittsburgh as the city to start her new theater company in 1990 and got early inspiration for that effort when she sought out and met August Wilson at the Crawford Grill.
