Hank grew up in the small town of Clarion, Pennsylvania, just north of Pittsburgh. Hank holds a BFA in Technical Direction from Clarion University. While receiving his degree, Hank worked for Des Moines Metro Opera for three consecutive summers. After graduating from Clarion in 2015, Hank moved to Pittsburgh and immediately began working on carving out a place for himself in the local scene. Starting out as a carpenter at City Theatre gave Hank the opportunity to work closely with Scenic Designer Tony Ferreri. Hank assisted Tony on more than a dozen shows over the following year and a half while moving into his own freelance career. Hank worked as a Scenic Designer, Production Manager, and Technical Director for a number of local companies. Hank has worked with Bricolage, City Theatre, Quantum, 12 Peers Theatre, Pittsburgh Festival Opera, Liberty Magic, and Enter the Imaginarium.
At Quantum, Hank is able to work closely and hands-on with designers, directors, building or venue owners/managers, carpenters, lighting technicians, box office and front of house staff, volunteers, and interns. This allows Hank to ensure that all workers and community members we work with are given what they need and are able to feel comfortable in their process and our own. Hank’s goal is to create and cultivate a production environment that is inclusive and accessible for all involved.
When not working, you can find Hank at home playing Magic: The Gathering or talking about/listening to Phish.
